The project required evacuating gas from pigging launchers and receivers throughout the ILI process. Using a mobile recompression unit, gas was transferred back into the main pipeline, reducing emissions and operational downtime.
A single small-volume evacuation unit was deployed between launch and receive sites, efficiently recompressing gas from barrels and nominal pipe assemblies back into the main line. Starting pressures ranged from 580 to 680 PSIG, with ending pressures as low as 0 PSIG in approximately 20 minutes. Setup and breakdown averaged under an hour per site, ensuring minimal project disruption.
Result:
The client successfully avoided venting most of the trapped gas, significantly reducing emissions while keeping additional costs and time constraints to a minimum. This approach optimized environmental compliance and project efficiency.
